fishy fisheye

remember how i told you about my great fisheye-deal i grabbed at the lomography store munich closing sale? i shot two films over the summer and i thought i would share them! i love the funny bubble effect and i think a fisheye is the best camera for party and festival shots! the photos were taken at the rock im park festival, the utopia island festival and during a trip to italy in the car.

analogue picspam

here they are, all the analogue pictures i took with my holga, i should've shoot much more, but i can't change that now.. the first two are taken at TEL AVIV beach at the evening, the rest is from our massada sunrise tour, i felt like being at the grand canyon seeing those rocks in the 6th and 7th picture. the third one is my analogue-panorama attempt, i think it got pretty interesting though! i need to finish shooting the roll in the fisheye camera, the first roll ever i shot with it, after developing you'll definitely get to see the pictures!

diana mini

it feels like ages since i developed the last lomography film, this time it's diana again! i let them cross process it, and surprisingly there were a lot of good photos, i guess the diana is a little bit better than the holga, it's always more sharp and less blurry on the edges.. anyway, i have to take a lot more analogue photos, i really have to remind myself to take one of my cameras with me everywhere i go!

diana x holga

first takes with my DIANA MINI! actually there weren't a lot of good photos, but don't my little cousins look adorable wearing the scream mask?

and some HOLGA-photos, too! actually from the red corner festival, wich was like three months ago.. well, i'd better get more into lomography again, especially now that i have those two awesome cuties!, one for standard (holga) and one for square and panoramic shots (diana) - that's why they love each other so much ♥
& don't forget to check my FLICKR for more!

i'm a skeleton

in the end i thought 'just go for it!' and finally painted my holga.. i love how it came out, the film's loaded, ready to shoot! the neckstrap i made from an old necklace and some plastic bones, in wich my dad made some additional holes so i could link them. those bones look like holga's arms now and everytime i carry her around my neck, it'll look like she's waving - so cute! :D

skele-holga

i've been thinking about some design for my plain white holga since the moment i unboxed it, i originally had ordered it white so i could customize it.. now that i own a diana mini, customized as a donut, her big sister holga looks both boring and sad next to her.. so i decided to get a little bit creative today, tried some things out that circled around in my brain and finally i came up with the skeleton idea.. the most awesome thing: i'm gonna do a bone-neckstrap -wich is actually why i like the idea so much and i could use those leftover plastic bones i ordered for my bone hairclips but didn't fully use.. so tell me what you think, should i do it?  other ideas would be galaxy-holga, brainslush, nyan-holga.. what's you favourite?

pinhole

today i finally picked up the developed photos of my DIY pinhole experiment and i was really surprised that so many of them actually got quite good! i experimented a little bit with exposure time and found out that 2sec (1)  or 3sec (2-4) are best on cloudy days, on sunny days i would go for 2-1sec or even less than 1sec if it's really bright -beach or sth- on really dark and rainy days i would go for 3-5sec. the last photo is -incidentally- a double exposure but i'm really surprised that this works with pinhole cameras, too! i think this super simple pinhole camera is just amazing, the quality of the pictures isn't bad at all if you remeber that this thing is just a cardboard-box with a tiny hole in it! try it out, it's so much fun and a completely new expirience in photography!

DIY pinhole camera

first of all:  i'm really sorry for not posting that much recently, i've been very busy finishing school, therefore a lot of imporant exams and next to that i had to draw a lot for a second portfolio for another university i want to apply for, to study industrial design.
for that portfolio i had a special little DIY-project, i built myself a small pinhole camera, there are a lot of tutorials on the internet - here, a very good one here - and actually it's very easy to make that little thing just out of some leftover cardboard from your empty drawing or note pads.. so i'm pretty excited about the photos, since i don't know if there aren't any light leaks, or if i did open the shutter long enough or too long.. well i took 19 shots on the regular 35mm film, i hope there's at least one picture that i can show to you!
PS: be excited for a lot of DIY stuff soon! i just finished my exams and the portfolio, now i've got 2 weeks free, with a lot of time to work on that huuuge list of DIY-projects i collected during the last months! and of course the 'how-to-strech-your-ears-post will be up very soon!

cross processing

recently i tried cross processing - wich is to develop negatives using the method to develop positives - the last roll i shot with my holga and i have to say the special colour effect you can expect didn't come through that much, especially dark photos had been rather red, wich doesn't look very good. but some of the lighter photos had that beautiful pastel pink shade, just like the trees on the first picture.. well maybe it's just the scanner or i should just try another film to get a better effect.. everything's always a surprise if you do lomography - wich is actually what makes it that wondeful.

the donut.

finally, i did it, i painted the cute white diana mini camera i won in a contest at somelostgirl's blog - thanks so much again! - and well, the donut looks super sweet, doesn't it? - yum yum wanna eat it! ♥ ♥
so here are some TIPS for you if you want to paint your own camera - or anything made of plastic actually:
1. make sure you use the right colours: only use colors made for plastic, everything else will crumble off if you use the item more often. i used enamel colours, made for modelbuilding, you can find them at your local DIY store.
2. before you paint you should either use a special primer - wich you can only spray on, so that wasn't possible for me - or take a piece of sandpaper and roughen the surface, so that the colour will stick to it better.
3. if you don't want to risk painting the viewfinder you can simply screw the diana open so that you have three isolated parts, but make sure to keep all the parts, especially the screws so that you can put you camera back together (don't do that if you're not sure you'll be able to put it back together!)
4. start to paint with the lightest colour. you can easily correct mistakes with a darker colour, but not the other way round!
5. don't paint anything you'll have to move, like the counter wheel, the colour will make it stick and you won't be able to turn it anymore!
6. if you have to mix colours, always make sure you mix enough of the colour, it is the worst thing if you run out of colour, you'll never be able to mix the exact same colour again! i had to mix the light pink cotton candyish colour because they didn't sell a bright pink one anywhere, but actually i love the pastel look of the donut now and cotton candy pink is pretty cool, too!
7. let every layer dry carefully before you add the next one!
GET STARTED! - painting is so much fun, so get creative now and make your camera somehing special, that no one else's going to have! :D

the frozen lake

i picked up some developed lomography today and really, this time nearly everything has been crap, just the one above went out pretty beautiful.. i love how the trees are reflected by the frozen lake.. and do you see that red light leak at the bottom? it's in nearly every picture and i love it, it's kind of my brand label.. i originally wanted to have my negatives cross-processed but those stupid people from the drugstore didn't get that.. what a pity, i'd really loved to see how the colours would have changed..

holga's got a little sister.

guess what arrived here today: holga's new little sister, DIANA ♥ i came home and found the package and really, thanks so much to polga, i'm so so happy! i can't wait to shoot and i've also been on the search for some colours to paint it the whole week, although i didn't find anything until now, i think i'll need some special paint for plastic.. well, tomorrow i'm gonna check out a local do-it-yourself store and see if i'm going to find something.. can't wait to get creative and give her the yummy donut look! and really, how cute do holga and diana look together? ♥ ♥ ( i think i'll have to paint my holga somehow, too - wich i had originally planned, that's also the reason why i bought a white one.. because holga's going to be jealous about diana, being not as beautiful and special as diana's going to be.. i already had an idea a long time ago, the GALAXY-holga - wich is kinda impossible to paint.. well, let's see!)

lomography

some random photos i took in the last months using my HOLGA.. i got the film developed last week and yesterday i picked it up and i have to say that really many photos got surprisingly absolutely nice, these three are my favourite ones. so if you wonder what this strange white thing is the girls are drinking, it's 'schneemaß', a mix of vanilla ice cream, lemon soda and liquor - i would translate 'pint of snow' because it looks like liquid snow actually - and tastes fucking weird - no, it's disgusting.  well, i prefer hot wine punch as a drink for winter and lately i discovered my fondness for tea - yum.
well, today's christmas. what a pitty all the snow we had the day before yesterday is gone.. i would have really liked a white christmas after we've been having none for years around here.. never the less i hope you enjoy this wonderful day and get a lot of beautiful presents! ♥ ♥
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

black and white.

finally my first roll of black/white film is developed! it was surprisingly expensive and took much longer as usual, so i probably won't buy some b/w films again.. but the pictures went out pretty well, i have lots more - you can take a look at them on my flickr. so the pictures are both taken in italy again and i find that the light there was extremely good, the pictures are very sharp and light, although i always forget my flash if the light would be enough for a digital camera but not for an analogue one, well i still need to practice a lot..

rome in lomography.

well, after a long time i can finally show you my photographs from rome. the first two pictures are taken with an single-use underwater camera from a local super market - first one is actually taken in palma de mallorca during my last trip. i really love those single-use cameras, you don't have to buy a super expensive underwater case for your own camera, you could just use them and experience a little analogue feeling.. the last two photos are taken with my holga and i recognized that this red light leak isn't just randomly, actually there must be a little leak in the back of my camera.. but i don't think i'll close it, i like the little light, it's the unique signature of my pictures - really, it's nearly on every photo since i use the white back for my holga again and there was a little piece where light could come in, a red foil..i put some black paper and nail polish behind, but as you can see it didn't really work - i love it anyways. the 4th picture shows piazza del popolo, where an awesome flea market would have been, but we didn't make it to go there because we had to walk around sightseeing with our teachers.. >.< but all in all it was such a wonderful trip AND it was warm, beautifully warm and sunny..
a little preview: my hair changed his colour again..
