upcycled

if you're an architecture or design student, you'll know what i'm talking about: what the hell are we gonna do with all of those paper models? i'm always split, on the one hand it took a lot of time to build those things but on the other hand, they're just standing around in your room and get covered in dust, but it's really hard to get rid of them, to just throw them out, it kinda hurts in your heart - you know what i mean.. 

so i had a big project this year, concerning an old and unused bunker in the city of munich. we had to develop a concept for a mixed use, two different functions combined in one building. we could do whatever we wanted, and i decided to fill that thing with water and turn it into a scuba diving center, combined with a night club that involves a glass tunnel that leads through the water. it ended up in having to build a model, of course. it took me four days and nights to complete it, one entire day of that i just spend building that glass tunnel.. my concept was kinda complicated in it's geometry, i had a lot of polygons and stuff so i had to do a super fancy flip-open model.. i guess you can understand why i'm not ready to throw it away yet.. so i thought of something different..

i was in desperate need for some kind of jewellery and makeup organization, so i just filled up that model, wich actually looks a bit like a doll house, with my stuff and it all fits in or on perfectly.. well i'm not that much of a makeup-freak, i got my eyeliner and mascara and i'm ready to go. 

here's my tip for all those who don't study design or produce any kind of model at university: the easiest way to create some kind of a minature model is chipboard and wood glue, just build up a fantasy building, cinderella castle or whatever you like, it just may take a bit of time.. or ask me six months from now, i'm sure i'll have some more models leftover for you.. haha.

geometry

i guess i'm a little bit crazy about every kind of geometric things, shapes, patterns, polyhedra.. so i did different kinds of geometric art i guess, one of my favourites is modular origami at the moment, it's crazy just check out my playlist on youtube, there are so many things to fold, i just do it while watching tv or while waiting for something.. practically everywhere.. well and the other things are just ramdom, some thread art on some of my black and white lomo phoos and something i had to do for uni, a completely white artwork.. i really had fun doing that, i folded those triangles and then spilled 6 small candles over it and sprayed it white - although i nearly burned my apartement..

what i do? - interior design.

i nearly made it through the first semester at university, it's just two weeks to go, maybe the most horrible two weeks ever, lots of projects, some test and not enough time at all.. so anyway i wanted to show you some of the more interesting stuff i did this year.. beginning with the first of my three 5-week-main-projects: landscape architecture (not the best translation, but that's kinda it..)

among other things we had to build to cardboard models of a certain building in munich, every team of two students got one.. the first model is a negative model, we kinda built the air around the building, the building itself are the holes in it.. looks pretty interesting i think.. the second one is a classic 1:100 model, but we also used it for our study of the movement around the building, each colour represents a certain group of people moving around the buildings..

the next project was interior design and our task was to design and build a 1:20 model of the same box with specified measurements three times, everytime a little different and each within one or for the second one two weeks. the first task was to design our own dream apartement for one or two persons - lowest box - second task was to design a home for a family with one child - middle one - and the last was to combine work and live within one box designing a system that can be changed and rearranged to separate or connect single rooms of the house. at the end we placed all of our boxes next to each other, it looked really cool, like a really big scyscraper in shanghai or something!

last project had been product or furniture design and the most awesome day was our 8-hour-chair-day.. as the name already tells, we had to design and build a chair in only 8 hours, teams of two students and only laths and nails were allowed.. well i think our chair went out pretty good, it's just tipping over very easily - doesn't matter :D

last two pictureas are both renderings i did with photoshop, completely built out of concrete and other textures and background pictures.. it's fun but it really takes time.. the last one took me about 8h or something.. O:

well, after all i really loved this semester, i had so many different things to do, my university is just awesome, not theoretical, but all practical.. it is exhausting sometimes but i think i've learned a lot and i'm pretty excited about what's to come.. if you have questions, just feel free to ask!

the eternal struggle.

gettin' stuff from brain to paper really is THE eternal struggle, i had that pretty much for the last two weeks.. as long as i have reached the point where i actually know what to draw everything's fine and i could just draw hours and hours.. but well, to reach that point it takes a long long time.. anyway, i'm just drawing crystal things mostly, that's what i basically love to do all the time and so i try to kinda work that whole crystal or geometric theme into the drawings i want to hand in for university.. crystal moss on trees, the geometry of crystals itself, or the geometry of wasted-paper-balls, origami instructions.. crystals - paper - nature, these are the things i try to incorporate into interior or product design somehow.. next thing to draw: jellyfish. they're awkwardly scary but stunningly beautiful at the same time - i'm trying watercolour this time. -maybe.

best thing of the day: i won another vintage levi's denim jacket on ebay for just 1€ (+6,50€ shipping) - what a bargain! can't wait for it to arrive :D wich means DIY-time 

- i wouldn't just leave it as plain as it is now of course.remembered something else: what do you think of a watermelon-design for my holga? i'm currently thinking about how i could paint her.. galaxy is one of my favourites, too - but that's pretty much impossible to do.. 

diana mini - DONUT.

there's an awesome design contest on somelostgirl with the absolutely awesome chance to win a lomography diana mini in white! white's pretty boring or a super cool background for your own design and so polga, who's running the blog, decided to give the camera to the contestant with the best design for it.. i decided to do the DONUT-design (and i could eat that camera, yum :D) and i really hope i'll win, i love the diana mini cameras, it's a 35mm one and you can even shoot 72 photos using the double frame! love love love it ♥

 since i've been drawing a lot in the past weeks i wanted to show you some new things in my sketchbook, wich i had already shown you here . . and i really hope for some critics - so feel free to comment, especially what i could do better!

lately i'm collecting a lot of inspiration for my sketchbook, i'm darwing a lot, since i need some artworks to apply for university and therefore i need to practice a lot, i really want to get a place there! maybe i'll show you some drawings of me, if i'm satisfied with the result - perfectionist, sadly.

Holga-Design.

Friday evening's boredom has brought me to do some possible designs for my lovely HOLGA. this is my favourite one, went out pretty nice. the "entergalactic Holga" problem is: how could i actually paint such a freakin' awesome galaxy-like design? impossible. i thought about just putting some photo on it, question is if it's going to stay there.. and there is this "yummy-donut Holga" - design i really love, too. hm. difficult decision.

disaster.

what would you do if you had no internet access for a whole week ? i can say, you will start doing really weird things.. well, i actually had no internet and guess what, i spent the whole week drawing in my brand new sketchbook(s), designing the covers and - of course - watching Fringe. first i thought 'oh my gosh, how could i survive this ?!' but then, after i went buying a new sketchbook i thought 'hey, this is maybe a good thing' and it was. spending to much time here limits creativity - although i missed the inspiration from lookbook.nu or weheartit.com - and you really learn to appreciate the endless possibilities of internet and technology, i lately discovered that we actually have a phone - you get really lonely if you can't communicate with your friends through facebook, what is actually a little bit scaring. so what i learned from is maybe to introduce a internet-free day every week..

friday night.

friday night - people meet friends,go out,party or if you're lucky and live in the US you're probably watching Fringe - but i had to sit at home. mom isn't there to drive me somewhere so i'm trapped in that fucking damned village. no bus. i could again start telling you how much i hate it, but actually being alone on fridays is sometimes quite good too. i started drawing the Fringe season two's poster - the DVD-box was lying around somewhere in my room and actually i did not stop drawing until it was completely dark outside and in my room and i didn't  feel my right hand anymore. do you know that strange feeling when your drawing and drawing and then you kind of 'awake' and recognize the music you've been listening to had stopped nearly a hour before without you noticing it? well, i had something like that yesterday, i think it is pure creativity.Creativity drowns every other Feeling.

sketch book.

i had to do this special sketch book about music and art for school and today i turned it in. i'm very nervous about what my theacher thinks but what is even more frightening is the fact that i feel like there is missing a part of me. i was working so hard on it and now that i don't have it anymore i feel lost. that's just because i'm stupidly thinking i can't write down if i had a new or brilliant idea. for that i could just use another white paper and write it into the sketch book later.. the purpose of that book was to develop a special project how music could be expressed in art. i'm thinking of doing a kind of mechanical human, filled with all those sounds we hear in our everyday life. there should be sounds that are completely unimportant , sounds we don't really hear anymore, like the ticking of a clock. combined with some light effects it will create a really phantastic atmosphere. 'the sound of life' ; some inspirations:

- my machine should be nearly human. if i switch it on i won't be able to switch it off again until it's energy is completely used up. this machine is going to die. nothing will work without the batteries. soon some sounds will be missing and in the end there will be nothing but dark silence. it's getting older like a real person. and the last sound you'll hear is the beating of it's heart.

drawing.

drawing is my hugest passion. i draw everyday ; everywhere & everything . i Love Love Love it (: everytime i'm bored i just take a pencil and draw ; drawing makes me calm when i'm furious ; it makes me happy when i'm depressed ; it can express love ; hate ; motion ; silence ; music & atmosphere .

the left one is one of my latest creations.i drawed it while listening to 'burning in the skies' by linkin park. it expresses the atmosphere and all those beautiful symbols of the songs, like 'and we will make to be apart like seperate chambers of the human heart'  that's one of my favourtite songs at the moment ♥
